Edge of Eternities Commander Precons: Decklists & Spoilers

Over the years Magic the Gathering introduced various planes. There’s Tarkir, Lorwyn, Innistrad, Theros, and many more. However, if you’re deeply familiar with MTG lore, you also know about the Blind Eternities — the space between those planes. We didn0t know much about it, but Edge of Eternities is here to change that.

This set is Magic’s take on the “space opera” genre, which makes it unlike any set we’ve seen before. The space exploration will also be present in Edge of Eternities Commander precons.

In this article, you’ll find everything about them, including the decklists, new cards, best reprints, and reviews of all commanders.

Before we get to that, let’s check what you’ll find in the precons.

Edge of Eternities Commander Precons Contents

There are two different Edge of Eternities Commander precons:

Deck nameColors
World Shaper Edge of Eternities Commander Precons DecklistsWorld Shaper
  • Black
  • Red
  • Green
  • Counter Intelligence Edge of Eternities Commander Precons SpoilersCounter Intelligence
  • White
  • Blue
  • Red
  • In each of them you’ll find the following:

    • 2 foil cards (main and secondary commander)
    • 98 regular cards
    • 10 double-sided tokens
    • 2-card Collector Booster sample pack
    • a cardboard deck box (not particularly sturdy, but features a neat design)

That’s pretty much the regular stuff, as far as Commander precons go.

One thing to note for newer players: the decks aren’t randomized. So, decks with the same name will always contain the same 100 cards. The only variance comes from the Collector Booster sample pack.

The latter is just a nice addition to the deck. Occasionally, it contains a valuable card (if you’re lucky), but typically most of the value is tied to the decks themselves.

Speaking of which, let’s take a look at them.

    World Shaper

World Shaper Edge of Eternities Commander Precons Decklists

TERRAFORM AND TERRORIZE — Sacrifice lands and grow back stronger alongside the massive seedship, Hearthhull, and Szarel, director of terrasymbiosis.

This Jund deck will sacrifice lands for value. If you’ve been playing Magic for a long time, you might remember the same thing with Nature’s Vengeance, one of the Commander 2018 decks. The deck was led by Lord Windgrace, and it was a fairly popular one.

However, that was already seven years ago. Given its popularity, it made a lot of sense for this theme to return. Of course, a small twist is added, but the core game plan remains the same:

    1. Ramp with lands.
    2. Sacrifice lands.
    3. ???
    4. Profit.

If you enjoy this type of gameplay, World Shaper precon looks like a great pickup. The deck contains solid reprints, and is kinda good right out of the box. Plus, both commanders seem extremely powerful. Speaking of which, let’s take a look at them.

    Hearthhull, the Worldseed Review

Hearthhull, the Worldseed Edge of Eternities Commander Precons Decklist

Both main commanders feature the new artifact subtype – spacecraft. They work pretty similar to vehicles. You can put charge counters on them by tapping your creatures. (They get charge counters equal to the tapped creature’s power.) Once they have enough charge counters, they unlock abilities and eventually become creatures.

You might be wondering how this can be your commander. That’s because of a recent rules change, making all legendary vehicles and spacecrafts eligible as commanders. (Find additional details about Spacecraft rules here.)

So, you’ll need two charge counters to unlock the first ability. That shouldn’t be too hard to do. Any creature with at least two power will do the trick. At that point, you can pay one mana, tap Hearthhull, and sacrifice a land to draw two cards. Plus you get to play an additional land. That’s certainly a powerful effect in a deck like this one.

But the real power comes from its last effect, at 8 or more charge counters. It becomes a 6/7 flyer with haste and vigilance. Plus, whenever you sacrifice a land each opponent loses 2 life. Now that’s the real reward for amassing all those counters.

With a little support (enough lands and a card like Sylvan Safekeeper), you could get rid of all your lands, and destroy all of your opponents on the spot.

While you need to put some work in by tapping enough large creatures, Hearthhull certainly packs a punch, and seem one of the stronger precon commanders recently. That last ability is just that strong.

    Szarel, Genesis Shepherd Review

Szarel, Genesis Shepherd Edge of Eternities Commander Precons Spoilers

Five mana for a 2/5 flyer is fine, but who are we kidding? We don’t care much about stats, anyway – we’re much more interested in the text box.

Szarel comes with an attached Crucible of Worlds effect, allowing you to play lands from your graveyard. This comes in handy in a variety of decks, but particularly in the ones that care about lands. World Shaper certainly does, as can also be seen from the second ability.

That one triggers whenever you sacrifice nontoken permanent during your turn. It doesn’t say nonland, so you’ll typically want to sacrifice lands, but other stuff works too. When you do so, you put some +1/+/1 counters on another creature. (Equal to Szarel’s power. Usually, that’s at least a couple.)

As you can imagine, Szarel plays amazingly well with fetch lands. (Yay, we finally broke fetches!) Now, if you want to be a bit more annoying towards your opponents, you’ll enjoy adding Strip Mine to the mix.

If you’re a fan of the Insect subtype, you could pair Szarel with Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest and Zask, Skittering Swarmlord.

Additionally, its pump ability is deceptively powerful. You can use it to station your main commander faster. Or you could add some infect creatures to the mix, and try to destroy an opponent in a single attack.

Based on all that, Szarel is a really powerful option that it doesn’t draw you into one single direction. Sure, you’ll do land-based synergies, but there are many direction in which you can take the deck. Such commanders are always cool and welcome additions.

Best Reprints in World Shaper Precon

So, is there any value among the reprints? Here are some of the most valuable cards in the World Shaper precon:

Just these cards amount to around $30 on the secondary market (as of July 10th). That’s without counting some less valuable reprints and all the new cards. Thus, World Shaper seems like an amazing buy.

    Counter Intelligence

Counter Intelligence Edge of Eternities Commander Precons Spoilers

SURPASS YOUR PROGRAMMING — Boost artifacts and proliferate counters with the aid of interstellar vessel, Inspirit, and its sentient navigational consciousness, Kilo.

The second deck offers something we’ve seen before, at least not in this exact 3-color combination. Sure, artifacts aren’t uncommon in Jeskai colors, but when you combine them with proliferating counters, you end up with something unique.

A neat thing here is that the counters aren’t just the boring, regular +1/+1 counters, as there is no green in the mix. Instead we are seeing the long overdue return of charge counters. Perhaps it’s finally time for Magistrate’s Scepter to become a true powerhouse.

While that might be a stretch, charge counters can be really fun. It’s cool for them to get a bump in power level, making them more playable by modern era standards.

    Inspirit, Flagship Vessel Review

Inspirit, Flagship Vessel Edge of Eternities Commander Decks Spoilers

Three mana and just one charge counter is enough to get the first ability online. Then you can pop a +1/+1 counter on one of your creatures at the beginning of your combat. Or you can instead opt for two charge counters on another artifact. That can be very strong, even with something like Pentad Prism.

The second ability requires more work with at least 8 charge counters. Inspirit becomes a 5/5 flyer that grants your other artifacts hexproof and indestructible. If you have a way to protect Inspirit itself, your opponents will have a really hard time dealing with your board.

The combination of both abilities makes for a really potent and fun card. However, a lot of its power depends on the other 99 cards in the deck.

    Kilo, Apogee Mind Review

Kilo, Apogee Mind Edge of Eternities Commander Precons Decklists

This is one of the more clean commander designs that we’ve gotten in recent years. There are probably multiple ways to abuse the proliferation if you have ways to untap this Robot. The first one that comes to mind is the combo with Aura of Dominion and Pentad Prism. That gives you as many proliferation as you’d like.

Pairing it with Freed From the Real also seems like it could do something broken. There’s certainly no lack of possibilities here.

Of course, you could also use it in a fair way, depending on which cards you pair it with. For example, it could be a perfectly fine Spacecraft commander, by turning on your Spacrafts faster.

    Best Reprints in Counter Intelligence

Here are some of the most valuable reprints in Counter Intelligence precon:

That’s some insane reprint value. Just these six cards amount for $60 on the secondary market (as of July 10th). And that’s without counting multiple cards in the $2-5 price range. (Alibou, Ancient Witness, Karn’s Bastion, all 3 artifact lands in these colors, and more.)

Plus some of the new cards will probably be valuable too. From the pure value perspective, this is a deck that you don’t want to miss. Plus, the game plan also looks really fun.

    Conclusion

While the release date for this set is August 1, 2025, both decks are already available for preorder on Amazon. If you like their themes, it might be a good idea to lock-in that preorder price now, just in case if these end up being popular. Counter Intelligence already sold out once during the presale window.
