Double Masters VIP Booster – Contents
Each Double Masters VIP Booster Contains the following 33 cards + 2 tokens:
- 2 foil borderless cards (also called Box Toppers)
- 2 foil rares/mythic rares
- 8 foil uncommons
- 9 foil commons
- 10 full-art basic lands
- 2 foil full-art basic lands
- 2 foil tokens
Let’s take a look at those categories one by one.
Borderless Cards / Box Toppers
There are 40 different borderless cards or Box Toppers. There’s only two ways of opening those.
First one is by buying a booster box of Double Masters (check price on Amazon). With each Booster Box you get 24 regular packs (with two rares or mythics) plus two Box Toppers. These Box Toppers aren’t foil.
The only way to open a foil Box Topper or Borderless card is by getting a VIP Booster (check price on Amazon). As we said, you’ll get two foil borderless cards in those.
So which cards are those? All 40 of them are listed here:
Those are some very coll cards indeed! A quick notion about the rarity. Each card with a rare symbol (gold) is twice as come as the cards with the mythic rare symbol (orange).
Furthermore, 8 of the “rare” borderless cards appear in the set as commons or uncommons in the set, although without the alternate art and the borderless treatment. Those cards are:
- Brainstorm – common
- Crop Rotation – uncommon
- Expedition Map – common
- Fatal Push – uncommon
- Lightning Greaves – uncommon
- Urza’s Mine – common
- Urza’s Power Plant – common
- Urza’s Tower – common
Regular Foil Cards
As we said, each VIP booster contains 19 foils:
- 2 rares or mythics
- 8 uncommons
- 9 commons
Each of those cards has a regular version art and can also be found in a regular Double Masters booster. You can find all Double Masters cards here.
Full Art Basic Lands
Double Masters VIP Booster features older full art basic lands, with newer more clear frame. You get all 10 different lands from two cycles. The first was originally in Unhinged:
The second cycle is from Battle for Zendikar:
Besides those ten lands, you also get two additional ones – in foil! They are two random ones from this two cycles.
Finally, you also get two foil tokens. Each of them has a token on each side, so you’re actually getting four token arts usually.
That’s all the contents from the VIP booster, so 33 cards + 2 tokens total. Now you might have a question if that’s actually worth it…
Is Double Masters VIP Booster Worth Buying?
Honestly, it depends. The price is definitely high. However, boosters usually contain a bunch of draft chaff. With this one, you are guaranteed two chase cards, as foil borderless cards will mostly fetch a high premium.
Now if you don’t have enough expendable income, you should stay away from those. They’re just Magic cards and don’t let FOMO (fear of missing out) get you to buy spend more than you could afford.
On the other hand, if the price isn’t too high for you, it seems like a good buy. That’s especially true if you enjoy opening high end cards, foils and cool looking basics.
The product is possibly very good to hold sealed for a couple of years, as there are so many good cards here, that it might increase in value. This way, you don’t lose to variance, but you can make some profit in a couple of years. However, don’t go too crazy about this and don’t treat them as an investment plan – there are much better things to invest in, then Magic cards.
So all in all, VIP boosters are worth it if you don’t mind a bit higher price. You can get them at Amazon here.
