We already mentioned how Jumpstart boosters work in paper, but today we’re going to talk about Jumpstart event on Arena. You’ll also find which themes you want to pick depending on what cards you want. (Exact odds included).
Anyways, let’s dive right in and find out how you can get sweet new cards!
Jumpstart Announcment
Jumpstart Arena Event was first announced on July, 14th 2020 in the following video. While the event wasn’t around for almost a year, it came back on June 4th, 2021.
Jumpstart Arena Event
The event will be available from June 4th to July 8th, 2021. You pick two themes – or the same theme twice. Each theme contains 20 cards. The two themes combined become your deck. Afterwards, you play as many matches as you want.
Entry fee: 2,000 Gold or 400 Gems
So what about rewards? For first two wins, you’ll get a random Jumpstart rare card. But the main prize is definitely getting to keep all the cards you opened, as they are all legal in Historic. Some of them are also legal in Standard, for example the five M21 planeswalkers (with exception of Ugin).
Besides that, you’ll also get a special basic land art with each pack – so two per event, if you pick two different themes. You can find all Jumpstart basic lands here.
Which Jumpstart Theme to Pick?
You’ll have to make two picks between three themes, each time you enter the event. So which theme would be the best one? Well, you can take a look at all Jumpstart decklists here, but these don’t take into account some of the replacements that had to be made from paper to Arena.
That’s why we made the following table, which can help you decide which one to get. You’ll find all available themes, along with the following information:
First rare – list of cards you can get in the first rare slot (+odds)
Second rare – list of cards you can get in the second rare slot (+odds)
Mythic chance – chances of getting a mythic rare in the pack
Grade – how good do we think the pack is for your collection
Grades
While the odds are set in stone, our grades aren’t. These don’t mean how well they’ll do in the event – they are probably pretty balanced against each other. Instead, we made them with Historic and/or Standard playability in mind and considering that you might already have some of them.
However, if you like the Cat Forest as we do, then Cat Theme is the best for you, although we gave it a D grade. Also if you need a Garruk, Unleashed for your deck, than Garruk theme is a straight up A.
We were somewhat conservative with our grading and only Elves theme got a straight A. So keep all that in mind when you’re deciding which packs to pick.
Jumpstart looks like a very fun set to play. It’s especially great, if you want to play Historic. If you have any additional question or suggestions, let us know in the comments below. You can also contact us on our Facebook or Instagram page.
Anyways, that’s all for today. Have a blast playing Jumpstart and may you get your desired theme in your first try!

Solid guide, but it’s not a 100% If understand it correctly. For instance in ‘Well-Read’ I got a Gadwick and a Mystic Archaeologist despite saying there is no second rare.
I have a question do you know what happens with extra copies of cards you already have? Are they added to vault? What in case of rares and mythic rares.
Commons and uncommons get added to the Vault. If you get rares and mythic rares, you’ll get gems (20 for rares, 40 for mythics) if you have 4 copies of them from Jumpstart set.
So you bought the packs in paper, right? This guide is focused on Arena packs. Some cards had to be replaced from paper to Arena. For example, Sheoldred is replaced with Carnifex Demon on Arena.

Yeah, there was a mistake, thanks for pointing it out. It’s now fixed.
