It that one, you’ll find the big picture stuff, but here you can explore grades for each card in the HOB Play boosters. As expected, the grades are based on how good they are for draft.
Before we get to the actual grades, let’s explain what they represent.
UPDATE: (August 17th) All the cards received a second look, and the grades were changed based on the first two weeks of the format. While there might be some minor changes later in the format, the grades are now fairly accurate.
The Hobbit Draft Tier List – Legend
- A: The best cards in the set, which can win games on their own. Once they’re cast, the game revolves around them.
- B: Strong cards, reasons to draft their colors.
- C: Fine, playable cards. You’ll happily pick them, when you’re already drafting their colors.
- D: Easily replaceable cards, although not unplayable. A few D+ cards often end up in decks as 20th-23rd best cards.
- F: Unplayable, niche cards. Usually meant for and other constructed formats (Commander, Standard).
All grades (except F) can use a “+” or a “-” symbol. As you’d expect, B+ is better than B, which is better than B-.

Without further ado, here are the grades for all cards in the main Hobbit set.

Note: These grades make sense in theory, assuming you can cast and properly utilize the card. During the draft, you should slightly adjust them, depending on your previous picks. Imagine you drafted a single two drop and it’s already the middle of pack 2. That random D+ two drop is now looking more like a C-level card.
