Zendikar Rising brought us new Expeditions! They are some of the most powerful MTG lands with brand-new artworks and frames. Today we’ll discuss everything you need to know about Zendikar Rising Expeditions, mostly focusing on:
- Full list of Zendikar Rising Expeditions (there are 30 total)
- Where and how you can get these powerful lands.
With that said, let’s start with the most popular Expeditions – fetch lands.
Zendikar Rising Expeditions: Fetch Lands
All 10 fetch lands are returning as Zendikar Rising Expeditions.
Zendikar Rising Expeditions: Fast Lands
We’re also getting 5 fast lands – the allied colored ones. They first appeared in Scars of Mirrodin and this is their first reprint.
Zendikar Rising Expeditions: Battlebond Lands
We’re getting 5 Battlebond lands. (Also called Bond Lands or Crowd lands.) These lands are insanely good in all multiplayer formats. They are also in allied colors as well.
Other Zendikar Rising Expeditions
Finally, there are 10 more Expeditions, that aren’t really a part of a cycle. The closest we get to a cycle is with two creature lands in Celestial Colonnade and Creeping Tar Pit.
How to Get Zendikar Rising Expeditions?
The Expeditions were first introduced in a set Battle for Zendikar. On average, you had to open over 200 boosters to get an Expedition. Not great odds, right?
With Zendikar Rising this is changing. You can’t open an Expedition in a regular Draft Booster pack anymore. So where do you get an Expedition card?
Each Zendikar Rising Booster Box comes with a Zendikar Rising Expedition! Each box contains a so-called Box Topper Pack, and inside you’ll find one of the 30 Expeditions. That’s quite better odds than with Battle for Zendikar, as you’re guaranteed to get one.
There are three different types of booster boxes, so let’s take a quick look at each one of them to see what they contain.
Zendikar Rising Draft Booster Box
- Boosters: 36 Draft Boosters
- Box Toppers: 1 Zendikar Rising Expedition
- Price: check on Amazon
This is your regular booster box with regular booster packs, that you’re used to. It’s great, if you want to draft or play Sealed with your friends.
Besides the 36 Draft Boosters, you also get one Box Topper with one Zendikar Rising Expedition.
Zendikar Rising Set Booster Box
- Boosters: 30 Set Boosters
- Box Toppers: 1 Zendikar Rising Expedition
- Price: check on Amazon
Set boosters are a new product – Zendikar Rising marks their first appearance. It’s a special booster meant for players who just want to crack their packs and don’t plan on drafting.
Each booster has multiple spots where you can get a rare, you can actually get up to four – if you’re lucky. On average, each Set booster contains 1.34 rares. You’re also guaranteed a foil, a Showcase uncommon and an Art card. You can find more about Set Boosters here.
Each box contains 30 Set Boosters plus one Box Topper with a Zendikar Rising Expedition.
Zendikar Rising Collector Booster Box
- Boosters: 12 Collector Boosters
- Box Toppers: 2 Zendikar Rising Expeditions
- Price: check on Amazon
Collector Boosters are meant for collectors and players who like alternate art cards and foils. The price is high, but you get some really amazing cards in them.
Each booster contains 4 rares or mythics and over 10 cards in the pack are foil. In addition, this is the only product that contains foil Zendikar Rising Expeditions.
Approximately 1 in every 6 Collector Boosters contains a foil Expedition. That’s approximately 16,7% chance of getting one in a single Collector Booster.
However, if you get a whole Collector Booster Box, you get not one, but two Box Toppers, so two guaranteed Expeditions. That’s in addition to 12 Collector Booster Packs you’re getting inside your box.
On average, that means a single Collector Booster Box gives you two regular Expeditions plus two foil ones. Pretty good if you want multiples.

The rate of pulls for the collectors box is not correct I opened a box and got no extra expeditions at all only got the 2 non foil ones
Sorry to hear about that. But, as it is stated in article, each Collector booster has a 16,7% chance of containing a foil expedition, so on average a box of 12 Collector boosters would have two. Both of this facts are true. However, as always with statistics, there are outliers. In your case, a box without foil expeditions can happen around 11,2% of the time.
