Marvel Super Heroes Source Material Cards: Best Iteration so Far?

With increase of Universes Beyond sets, Source Material cards are becoming a regular occurrence. However, the Super Heroes variants might be the best iteration of this alternate art so far.

As you’ll see below, some of these are absolutely perfect flavor fits. Before we explore all Super Heroes Source Material cards, let’s explain what those actually are.

What are the Super Heroes Source Material Cards?

These are reprints of popular cards from all over Magic’s history. The twist is that they use borderless art taken directly from Marvel comics’ pages.

Wizards matches iconic scenes and characters from Marvel Universe in a way that they fit with the cards’ mechanics. Take a look at Extinction Event, perhaps the best executed Source Material card ever.

The iconic Snap, which obliterated half of the universe’s population is represented perfectly with a wrath that removes half of the creatures.

There are plenty of other awesome designs featured here, but personally, this one is my favorite. It’s just so unique with everything fading to black. It’s probably going to look even better in person.

Super Heroes Source Material Cards List

So far, 48 Source Material cards were previewed. (With three different version of a same aptly-named card.) All of them can be found bellow.

Where to Get Super Heroes Source Material Cards?

You can open them in both Play and Collector Super Heroes boosters of Super Heroes. Their odds are listed below. (They are are based on the Spider-Man set, and might differ. An update is coming next week.)

Play Boosters

MTG Marvel Super Heroes Play Booster Box

On average, you can expect a non-foil source material card in 1 of 24 Play boosters. Given than a whole box contains 30 boosters, that means slightly more than one per box on average.

Collector Boosters

Marvel Super Heroes Collector Booster Box

There’s a guaranteed slot for a Source Material card in each Collector booster. The card will be non-foil 75% of the time, and foil in the other 25%.

Since the whole box contain 12 boosters, that’s 12 Source Material cards per box.

A nice mix of both options would be something like a Super Heroes Gift Bundle, which contains both boosters but at moderate price.
