Before we get to all that, let’s first check what the deck’s game plan is.
OP-ST28: Yamato — Game Plan
ST28 contains cards of two colors: green and yellow.
Usually, green controls the board and does some minor combo plays by resting opponent characters. It builds momentum and wins through efficient tempo and pressure.
Yellow, on the other hand, often manipulates its own Life cards to gain powerful trigger effects. It can thrive when behind by making strong comeback plays. High risk, high reward type of stuff.
Of course, these are just general directions of the colors — sometimes they can do slightly different things. That’s also the case with ST28, which offers a fairly unique green-yellow strategy.
When playing this deck, you’ll want to win the game quickly. And the deck certainly delivers on that front, by being one of the faster OP Stater decks. It’s also a pretty powerful and a well-balanced deck (as far as Starters go.) Plus, it really shouldn’t be that hard to upgrade it and make it competitive, if you’re planning to play in a local tournament.
Anyhow, the big reason for this deck being so fast, is its leader. Speaking of which, let’s take a look at Yamato.
Leader: Yamato
Yamato has 5000 Power (Strike), which is soild. The four life isn’t ideal, but that’s less of a problem on such an aggressive card.
Double Attack helps a lot with aggression. Removing two life from opponent is already strong, but even better on this specific card, as it enables its second ability.
That one allows you to give up to 2 rested DON!! cards to one of your charcaters. Of course there are some limitations to this. Your opponent needs to have 3 or less Life cards. That’s why you want to play a quick game when playing Yamato.
Get those early hits quickly, and then capitalize on that early advanatage even further. Now, if your a fan of slower strategies, Yamato probably isn’t for you. On the oher hand, if you like aggressive decks with meaningful decisions, it is a great option to add to your arsenal.
