The Counter Blitz precon is build around Tidus, and showcases characters, items, and locations from Final Fantasy X. If you want to know more about this deck, you’ve come to the right place.
Below you’ll find everything we know about the deck so far, along with details on when you can expect more reveals. We’ll get to the actual spoilers in a second, but first – let’s check what this precon is all about.
Counters Galore
In Magic, you can put all kinds of counters on creatures. The most common ones are +1/+1 counters, which will also play a key part here. However, this won’t be your traditional counters deck.
With some +1/+1 counters decks, the only goal is to put as many counters on your creatures as you can. With this one, you’ll also do some fun synergies, such as move counters around, use various types of counters, or get value when creatures with counters on them die.
Plus, you’ll do so while playing with your favorite characters from the Final Fantasy franchise. (Provided they are from its tenth installment, of course.) What’s not to like?

Counter Blitz Spoilers
First up, here’s Tidus, the main commander for the deck.

Its first ability allows you to move a counter on one of your creatures to another one. Useful, albeit more fun than particularly powerful.
The second ability is called cheer, and can be much more potent. You need to make some work for it to trigger. At least one of your creatures with a counter will need to deal combat damage to a player. What’s the reward?
You get to draw a card and proliferate. Now that’s some serious potential, if you can manage to trigger this ability reliably. At that point, its quite reminiscent of Atraxa, Praetors’ Voice one of the most popular commanders ever. By the looks of it, Tidus might also become a fan-favorite.
Will the secondary commander also be such a hit? Let’s find out.

Four mana for a 1/5 is an unusual stat line, but we’re mostly interested in the text box, anyway.
You can tap Yuna to get one mana of any color. Plus, your next creature enters with two additional +1/+1 counters. That can come in handy, particularly in a deck with so many counters synergies. Speaking of which, that’s something Yuna’s second ability does.
Whenever one of your permanents with a counter is put into a graveyard, you can put that many +1/+1 counters on one of your other creatures. In the right setup, this can be responsible for some massive creatures.
Yuna, Grand Summoner creates a fascinating deckbuilding challenge. There are just so many different directions in which you could take the deck. You could build around Sagas (they have counters and go in the graveyard by themselves) or play with cards like The Millennium Calendar, which can get a ton of counters.
So, if you like to build unique decks, Yuna seems like a great commander to start a new deck with.

I’m a casual player of MTG but I’m very excited to get back into it with this commander deck.
Any suggestions on how you would modify this one in particular?
That’s awesome! Not yet, but an upgrade guide is coming in a couple of days, so make sure to check back then.
