Today’s article is all about the Limit Break precon. Below you’ll find all currently known information, plus key dates for future reveals. So far, the deck looks quite exciting, whether you’re a fan of Final Fantasy or Naya color combination.
With that said, let’s get right to it, and discover what this deck is all about.
UPDATE: This deck now comes with a special Game Edition version.
Equip the Largest Swords!
The various powerful weapons are a key part of basically every Final Fantasy game. In Magic, weapons are represented by Equipment cards. As the perfect blend of both worlds, the Limit Break precon will focus on Equipment and their synergies.

Naya color combination (white-red-green) offers a nice base for an Equipment deck. White and red offer a ton of synergies, as that color pair often supports this theme. Green also plays well with it, but mainly it brings some of the strongest Commander staples to the mix.
This color combo already had a few commanders with a similar theme in mind. (Most recently Dogmeat, Ever Loyal) However, none of them were all-in on Equipment, so it’s nice to see a deck that’s more focused on that theme.
So, you can expect various synergies for playing Equipment, but that begs the question:
Which Swords to Expect?
We know two more facts about the Limit Break precon. First, it’s based on the Final Fantasy VII, and second, the main commander is Cloud.
Based on this, we can make some predictions on which weapons might appear in the deck.

Buster Sword is basically a given, since it is also depicted on the packaging. There’s no shortage of other swords, but the ones that would make the most sense would probably be Murasame, Skysplitter, and Ultima Weapon.
All of these could provide a significant power and toughness boost along with some other unique and powerful abilities. It’s likely that we’ll see a lot of different swords, as there are 25 new cards per deck. (That’s significantly more than usual. Typically Commander precons contain 10 new cards.)

Limit Break Spoilers
The same goes for spoilers, with a small twist. The main commander has already been revealed. Take a look at Cloud, Ex-SOLDIER.

Five mana for a hasty 4/4 is an okay rate, but as always with commanders, we’re mostly interested in the text box.
Cloud delivers on that front, as you can attach an Equipment to it for free when it enters. Thus, it’ll often be a much better attacker than a mere 4/4. This also plays well with its second ability.
First, you get to draw a card for each of your equipped attacking creatures. (That counts Cloud, which means you’ll usually draw at least one card.) Then, you create two Treasure tokens, if Cloud’s power is at least 7.
So, you’re getting a free equip, some card advantage and perhaps even some ramp. That’s a ton of value from your commander. Thus, it’s quite likely that Cloud will end up being one of the more popular legendaries from this set. It’s not just a powerful card, but a really popular character too.

Conclusion
That’s all about the Limit Break precon. It looks like a great buy early on, if you’re a fan of Final Fantasy or if you simply enjoy playing with Equipment. The deck was quickly sold out on Amazon, so hopefully a restock will happen before the release. If you don’t mind paying a slightly higher price, you could find it on TCGPlayer.
