A third installment of Modern Horizons is coming, ready to shake the Modern format once again. However, there’s something special about this set. It’s the first time that Commander precons are going to be released alongside it. So, today we’re going to take a look at all four Modern Horizons 3 Commander decks, and see what they’re all about.
For each deck, will provide a quick description, as well as the cards of main and secondary commander. For more information about each decks, click the links titled decklist & spoilers in that deck’s section.
With that said, let’s get right to it and explore the decks, and their commanders.
Eldrazi Incursion
- Theme: Eldrazi
- Colors: All five + colorless
- Main Commander: Ulalek, Fused Atrocity

We’re starting with an absolute banger of a deck. It’s a deck all about Eldrazi, which is always a popular creature type. A similar deck was probably the most popular among Commander Masters precons, and there’s no reason for that to change much here.
After all, this is the first deck that includes all give colors and the colorless mana too. It’s highly likely that this precon will be the most unique from the bunch. You’ll start the game by playing small Eldrazi that will ramp you towards the big threats. It’s a reasonable guess to assume that some Eldrazi Scion and similar creatures will appear in this deck.

Graveyard Overdrive
- Theme: Graveyard
- Colors: Black, Red, Green
- Main Commander: Diva the Restless

Next up, here’s a Jund deck that cares about the graveyard. Nothing too surprising, but it’s going to be interesting to see what Wizards mean by the line “avenge the dead”. Perhaps a mechanic similar to morbid, the one that triggers whenever a creature dies?
Disa the Restless

Tricky Terrain
- Theme: Ramp, Value
- Colors: Blue, green
- Main Commander: Omo, Queen of Vesuva

This looks like the most Simicy of the Simic decks. You’re going to ramp and get value. That’s something green-blue players love.
Judging by the look of the box, there might be some doubling going on. What kind? Perhaps something that allows you to duplicate your commander. We shall wait a little longer to find out.
Omo, Queen of Vesuva

Creative Energy
- Theme: Energy counters
- Colors: White, Blue, Red
- Main Commander: Satya, Aetherflux Genius

After the Science! precon from Fallout, this is yet another deck centered around energy counters. It’s funny how we went multiple years without a single energy card, but now we’re getting two precons in a single year.
The deck is promising us powerful payoffs, so that’s something to look forward to. The energy decks were somewhat lacking in that department.

Oh, and if you’re wondering why there are two different cards for each Commander, well the regular one is what you’re getting in these precons. However, there’s also the co-called Collector’s Editions Commander decks, where each card is foil. The main and secondary commander will also feature the alt-art profile borderless version.
